“ I don’t think I could ever date a philosophy major. ”

On hearing what my studies were at UVM when I first met Elizabeth Crawford, my girlfriend now for over a year and a half.

“ That’s it in a nutshot… ”

Don Loeb and Peter Railton discuss their own views concerning moral theory. Don Loeb is a professor of mine at UVM.

“ Death is nothing to us, since when we are, death has not come, and when death has come, we are not. ”

Epicurus 341-270 BCE

for those looking for a more accessible form of philosophy…

I have chosen to spend time and money to study philosophy at the University of Vermont with some tremendously brilliant professors. This is not the only way to experience philosophy. There are quite a few options available to the interested individual without devoting resources that could be spent on something a bit more…lucrative? In any case, I have come across a series of texts that I have enjoyed reading and recommend them to someone wanting to gain a fairly comprehensive scope in a certain topic, called “Introducing…" The subject matters discussed exceed the confines of philosophy, but here’s a link to the field I will focus on for this blog.

I might also add that there are quite a few places to look online. Want to explore an entire area in the study or get a biography of a famous philosopher? Head over to the Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy.
